Langley, BC - The Victoria Royals shutout the Vancouver Giants 1-0 on a New Year's Day matinee as goaltender Shane Farkas turned aside all 29 shots in the victory, and earned first star of the game honours.

Victoria, who has 42 points (20-12-2-0), now trail the Kamloops Blazers (22-11-2-1) by five points for top spot in the division, and have played two fewer games. The Royals also sit one point ahead of the third place Kelowna Rockets (19-13-1-2) with a game in hand.

Up Next: Victoria will continue their five-game BC Division road trip this weekend with games on Friday against the Kelowna Rockets and Saturday versus the Kamloops Blazers. Puck drop is at 7:05 p.m. on Friday and 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. The trip concludes next Wednesday with a game against the Rockets in Kelowna.
Back at the Barn: The Royals return to the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre on January 10th to kick off a four-game homestand. Victoria will host the CHL's third ranked team in the Portland Winterhawks on Friday, January 10th and Saturday, January 11th.
