
Hitmen Complete Weekend Sweep over Rebels

Calgary, AB - The Calgary Hitmen headed to Red Deer to finish up the pre-season series with the Rebels. Calgary completed the weekend sweep with a 4-2 win over the home team.
Zac Funk opened up the game scoring with a feed from Maxim Muranov. It was followed up by a tally from Matteo Danis to finish out the first 20 minutes leading 2-0.
Red Deer responded in the second with Matthew Gard finding the back of the net 2:52 into the period. Muranov restored the two goal lead with a shorthanded goal at 15:05 for his second point of the night. With Red Deer in the box, Billal Noori capitalized on the man advantage to finish out the period with the 4-1 lead.
The third period remained scoreless until Arjun Bawa cut the lead in half for the Red Deer at 9:08. Despite a late push from Red Deer, Calgary was able to hold the lead to win 4-2. Shots finished up 34-17 in favour of Calgary.
Calgary returns to play next Friday, September 16, to begin the pre-season series with the Oil Kings in Edmonton. They will then return home next Saturday, September 17 at Deerfoot Sportsplex at Siksika Nation to finish the home-and-home set. Game time is 7:00 p.m. MT.
