THE HILLCATS: Lost to the Potomac Nationals 10-6 yesterday...OF Jayson Werth completed his major league rehab assignment and went 2-4 with a pair of three-run home runs against the ‘Cats...The first Werth homer broke a 3-3 tie in the fourth...The Hillcats hit four home runs in the game, including three in the sixth inning to make the score 7-6 in Potomac's favor...Werth then seemed to put the ‘Cats away with another three-run blast in the eighth inning...The loss completed a sweep of the Hillcats in Potomac, who have now fallen to third place in the Northern Division, 1.5 games back...

VS. FREDERICK: The Hillcats are 2-4 against the Keys this season..They have lost both series 2-1 so far...Three of the six games have been decided by just one run...The other three have been decided by four or more...Lynchburg won one of each type of game...This is the last series for the Hillcats in the half against a Northern Division rival...

HILLCAT HOMER HISTORY: Five home runs last Tuesday night matched the all-time Hillcat record for most home runs in a single game...This record goes back to 1995 when Lynchburg adopted the Hillcats moniker...The impressive feat has been accomplished three times...Most recently before Tuesday night was on April 27, 2005 against the Kinston Indians...Five different Hillcats homered in a 21-8 win that day...Tuesday it was only three ‘Cats combining to launch five dingers...Lynchburg had only hit one home run in their previous five games...The ‘Cats are currently slugging over .400 as a team (.407); the only team in the Carolina League that can say that...

KEEP'EM COMING: The Hillcats have homered 12 times in their last six games, including four yesterday, and now have 45 in 54 games this season...They only trail the Keys (47) for most home runs in the circuit...Lynchburg is 3-3 over these past six contests...

FOLLOW THE LEADER: OF Robby Hefflinger hit his 16th home run of the season yesterday...He has hit five long balls in his last six games...Currently leads the Carolina League and all Braves farmhands in homers...Trails only OF George Springer (Corpus Christi) for the lead in all of Minor League Baseball...Springer hit his 17th yesterday...Hefflinger is also on a 10-game hitting streak...Batting .382 (13-for-34) with five homers, two doubles, nine RBI, and eight runs scored...Ranks among the league leaders in batting average (.301, 6th), RBI (39, 2nd), hits (63, T-3rd), slugging percentage (.602, 1st), extra-base hits (29, 1st), and total bases (124, 1st)...

SWEPT AWAY: The Hillcats have now been swept three times this season, twice on the road, once at home, and all three times in three games...Salem beat them in Lynchburg April 18-21...Myrtle Beach got the ‘Cats May 7-9 and Potomac beat the Hillcats this past weekend...Three games matches the longest losing streak for the Hillcats this season...They are 7-1 in series openers following a series final loss...

BECK IS BACK: 1B William Beckwith returned to the Lynchburg roster from Rookie-level Danville Friday...Did not play Friday, but has been in the lineup the last two games...He is 2-for-6 since his return with a double, home run, three RBI, and a run scored...The 2012 Rome (Low-A) Braves Player of the Year is currently on a six-game hitting streak, batting just .250 (6-for-24) in that stretch...Has two doubles, two home runs, six RBI, and three runs scored during the streak...The Hillcats went 6-5 in his absence and are 0-2 in his first two games back in the lineup...

FIRST TO THIRD: By losing their last three the Hillcats have fallen from first place to third place in the Northern Division...They fell out of first after Saturday's loss for the first time since May 10th...They are now in third place for the first time since they lost to the Salem Red Sox on April 21 and fell to 7-8, a half game behind the second place Nationals, and 1.5 games behind the first place Keys...

TONIGHT'S OPPOSING PITCHER: RHP Zach Petersime was selected in the 45th round of the 2008 draft by the Orioles out of Rend Lake Junior College (IL)...According to baseball-reference.com he is one of just 14 players to ever be drafted (and signed) from that school (3rd by Orioles), none have been selected since 2008...Made his debut in 2009 with the GCL Orioles (4-3, 3.61)...Primarily a starter in his first two seasons, making 27 appearances, 15 starts for the GCL and Rookie-level Bluefield (2010)...Made 17 appearances for short-season Aberdeen in 2011 all in relief (0-3, 6.47)...Played at three different levels last year, Aberdeen, Low-A Delmarva, and Triple-A Norfolk...Posted a 2.78 ERA in 10 relief outings for Delmarva before getting the call to Triple-A...Went 0-3 with a 3.86 ERA in five appearances, three starts for the Tides...Started 2013 with Norfolk...Gave up 10 earned runs on 11 hits in four innings in his one and only start...Has been in Frederick ever since...Has allowed five earned runs or more in four of his nine starts...Tonight is his first appearance against the Hillcats...
