Frederick Keys News Release

The Keys could never get over the hump Monday, falling behind in the first inning and never leading in a series opening 8-3 loss in Lynchburg. The defeat ended a season-high six-game winning streak for the Keys.

Lynchburg got going early when centerfielder Todd Cunningham singled to lead off the first inning. Second Baseman Phil Gosselin then tripled on an 0-2 pitch to the left-center field gap and the Hillcats were atop 1-0. Gosselin would later score on a wild pitch to up the advantage to 2-0.

The Keys would battle back on catcher Brian Ward's solo home run down the left field line. His third home run of the year, Ward has already eclipsed his 2010 total of two.

Frederick would then tie the game in the fourth inning with runners on the corners and two men down. Britton got caught in a run down between first and second base and Abreu raced for the plate, scoring to tie the game.

Lynchburg would have the answer though as third baseman Joey Terdoslavich launched his ninth home run of the year, a two-run drive to right field and the Hillcats had a 4-2 lead.

The Keys scored in the top of the fifth inning on a two-out RBI-single from LJ Hoes but could not get over the hump. Lynchburg scored four runs in the seventh inning to break the game open.

The series continues Wednesday, May 11th at 6:05 p.m. with LHP Nathan Moreau getting the start for the Keys. Coverage begins at 5:45 p.m. with The UPS Store Pre-Game Show on 1450 AM The Source.

Frederick reruns home for Bark in the Park Night presented by Crossroads Animal Referral and Emergency. For tickets contact the Keys Box Offices at 1-877-8-GO-KEYS or purchase online at frederickkeys.com.
