Myrtle Beach Pelicans News Release

MYRTLE BEACH, SC - Tuesday night's homestand opener between the Myrtle Beach Pelicans and Kinston Indians at BB&T Coastal Field has been postponed due to rain. The two clubs will play a Wednesday night doubleheader consisting of two seven-inning games beginning at 6:05 p.m.

Two weeks ago at home against Potomac, the Birds were also rained out on a Tuesday to set up a Wednesday double-dip. Rain began falling at BB&T Coastal Field around 6:20 p.m. and it let up a little over an hour later. The field surface had accumulated a lot of standing water, especially on the warning tracks encircling the field. The field was rendered unplayable and the game was called at 7:58 p.m.

Wednesday night will be a Wiener Wednesday at BB&T Coastal Field, and fans can now enjoy two games for the price of one. The scheduled starters for Tuesday night's game will pitch on Wednesday. Joe Wieland, fresh off winning Carolina League Pitcher of the Week honors, goes for the Pelicans against T.J. House of Kinston. Gates will open for the Wednesday twinbill at 5:30 p.m.

Tickets for the postponed game on Tuesday can be redeemed for admission to any 2011 regular season Pelicans game. Tickets for Wednesday's doubleheader, the remainder of this six-game Myrtle Beach homestand, and all other Pelicans home games can be purchased by visiting the BB&T Coastal Field Box office, the Tickets page at MyrtleBeachPelicans.com, or by calling (843)918-6000 or (877)918-TIXX.
