
Hillcats Take Down Keys at Home

Lynchburg, VA- Joey Terdoslavich broke a tie with a home run in the fourth inning, and the Hillcats piled on 10 hits en route to beating the Frederick Keys, 8-3, Tuesday night in the first game of a three-game set.
The game started off right for the Hillcats. In the bottom of the first, Todd Cunningham led off with a single. Phil Gosselin followed him with a triple out to left-center field, his third triple of the season. Two batters later, Frederick starter Bobby Bundy threw a pitch into the dirt that bounced away from the catcher. Gosselin came in to score to make it 2-0.
Frederick's Brian Ward cut into the lead with a solo home run in the second inning, and then the Keys tied the ballgame at 2-2 in the fourth.
The game would not stay tied long. Hillcats newcomer Geraldo Rodriguez reached first on a hit by pitch to lead off the inning. Joey Terdoslavich followed with his ninth home run of the season, his sixth at home, to give the Hillcats the lead back, 4-2. The home run put Terdoslavich into a tie for the Carolina League lead in home runs.
The Keys scored one more time in the fifth against starter Dimasther Delgado. Delgado (3-3) gave up six hits and three earned runs in six innings pitched, and struck out five batters.
Lynchburg put the game away in the seventh. The first four batters all singled, and four runs scored as eight batters came to the plate in the inning. The 8-3 lead held up for the rest of the game when the Hillcats bullpen shut Frederick out for the last three innings.
Bundy took the loss, falling to 3-3 on the year. The Hillcats improved to 11-18, while the Keys dropped to 16-14.
Lynchburg will host Frederick again Wednesday night. Righty Zeke Spruill (1-2) will pitch for the Hillcats, while the Keys will counter with lefty Nathan Moreau (2-2). First pitch is at 6:05 pm, and the gates will open at five.
