WINSTON-SALEM, NC (MAY 10, 2011) - For the second straight game, the Dash scored three runs in the seventh inning to take the lead, and beat Potomac 5-3 on Tuesday night at BB&T Ballpark. The victory extended Winston-Salem's season-best winning streak to five games and the Dash won their second consecutive series.

The Nationals struck first in the opening inning, when Destin Hood hit a home run to left field. The moon-shot interrupted a solid beginning for Dash starter Terry Doyle, who struck out the side around the home run.

In the second, Winston-Salem took the lead. Kyle Shelton doubled with one out, and then Luis Sierra singled up the middle. Shelton would have advanced only as far as third base, but P-Nats catcher Sandy Leon's throw to third base to chase back Shelton went into left field, scoring the Dash shortstop and advancing Sierra to second. Sierra moved to third on a wild pitch and then scored on Nick Ciolli's groundout to put Winston up 2-1.

Potomac regained the advantage with two outs in the fourth. Steven Souza walked, and circled the bases when J.P. Ramirez homered onto the bridge in the right field corner.

The bats went silent until the bottom of the seventh. Andy Wilkins singled with one out, and moved to third when Shelton added his second double of the night. Sierra stepped in and tied the game with a single softly hit to left field, and Ciolli followed with a two-run triple to put the Dash up 5-3.

Addison Reed entered the game to pitch for Winston-Salem and struck out the side in the eighth, and allowed a single in the ninth before setting down the Nationals. Reed earned his first save with the Dash, and became the fourth different pitcher to pick up a save in the last five games.

Doyle had a quality start after giving up three runs (all earned) in six innings, but left the game with the Dash trailing and did not qualify for the win. Santos Rodriguez got the win after a scoreless seventh inning in relief.

Winston-Salem goes for its first series sweep of 2011 Wednesday night in the series final with Potomac at 7 p.m. at BB&T Ballpark. Dash RHP Andre Rienzo (1-0, 2.27) opposes RHP Paul Demny (0-2, 2.28). Fans can catch all the action on www.wsdash.com starting at 6:45.
