Lynchburg Hillcats News Release
Just one night after throwing one for themselves, the Lynchburg Hillcats were on the reverse side of a shutout as they fell 8-0 to the Delmarva Shorebirds on Thursday night.
Alonzo Richardson gave up seven runs in his five innings of work, and from there the Hillcats were unable to recover. However, the bullpen only allowed one run in four innings as they held the Shorebirds in check.
Delmarva scored one run in both the first and the sixth with two three-run innings in-between. The Shorebirds put up three runs in both the second and the fourth, essentially putting the game out of reach.
Two home runs were the major difference in the ballgame as Elio Prado and Samuel Basallo each picked up a home run this evening. Prado drilled a three-run shot in the second off the batters eye in center field. Basallo blasted a two-run shot over the center field wall as well.
With the series now even at one, the Shorebirds and Hillcats will square off in game three on Friday night at 6:30 p.m. at Bank of the James Stadium.
