Game Highlights
Quarter 1: Highlanders 20, Titans 19
The Highlanders came into Wednesday night's contest looking for revenge on the Kitchener Waterloo Titans, who defeated them on February 10th in Kitchener. Cape Breton started out strong taking an early 15-4 lead. The Titans were quick to respond and brought the game back with a 15-5 run. The Highlanders were able to hold the Titans to just 29% shooting and ended the quarter up 1 point.
Quarter 2: Highlanders 45, Titans 42
The second quarter was very close with both teams trading baskets throughout the quarter. The Highlanders would not let their lead slip away, but the Titans fought hard to keep it close. Neither team was able to take control of the game and the Highlanders headed into halftime with a 3-point lead.
Quarter 3: Highlanders 85, Titans 77
The second half started off similar to the second quarter, as the Titans looked to get in front but Cape Breton held the lead. The Titans 3-point shooting played a big part in them staying in the game. Once Kitchener's 3-point shooting started to die down, Cape Breton's offence sparked a late run to end the quarter with a solid 8-point lead.
Quarter 4: Highlanders 112, Titans 108
The final quarter kicked off with the Titans getting right back in the game with a big 15-5 run. The remainder of the quarter saw both teams exchanging leads, making it an exciting finish. With the game down to the wire, the Highlanders managed to pull out the big victory at home with solid free-throw shooting, finishing the game 26 of 27 from the line. Highlanders centre, Tanner Giddings, came up big, posting a triple-double in the game.
