The Crawdads have continued their strong second half, going 6-2 over the past week (Friday August 3 through Thursday August 9). The Crawdads' seven wins this month are the most in the South Atlantic League. They are in second place in the Northern Division, just two and a half games back of the Lakewood BlueClaws.
Last Thursday and Friday's games in Hagerstown were rained out and made up in a pair of doubleheaders on Saturday and Sunday.
The 'Dads picked up a 4-3 victory over the Suns in Saturday's first game. Tyreque Reed went three for three with a pair of doubles and a homerun. Pedro Gonzalez and Miguel Aparicio each stole a base. The 'Dads have been successful on a league-leading 77% of stolen base attempts this season (119 steals in 154 attempts).
The Crawdads stumbled in the day's second game, falling 10-5. Ryan Dorow had three doubles and two RBIs. Justin Jacobs hit a two-run homerun and a single.
On Sunday, the 'Dads lost the first game 1-0. Tyler Thomas got the loss despite allowing just two hits and one earned run in five innings. Justin Jacobs and Yohel Pozo each had two hits in the loss.
The 'Dads snapped their two game skid with a 5-2 win in Sunday's second game. Tyreque Reed collected a trio of hits, including two doubles. Reed finished the week with .423 average and was awarded South Atlantic League Player of the Week. Noah Bremer earned his fifth win of the season, pitching five innings, yielding two runs and striking out five batters. Joe Barlow nailed down the save with two shutout innings. Barlow leads the South Atlantic League relievers with a .118 batting average against.
The team enjoyed an off day on Monday before returning to Hickory for a seven day homestand.
On Tuesday, the 'Dads defeated the Kannapolis Intimidators 3-0 in the series opener. Tyler Phillips was masterful on the mound, throwing seven shutout innings and striking out thirteen batters. He didn't allow a walk to lower his season walk to innings pitched ratio to 0.97 (12 walks in 111 innings). Phillips got his ninth win the season (second in the SAL) and lowered his ERA to 2.92 (sixth in the league). Tyreque Reed, Matt Whatley, and Pedro Gonzalez all hit solo homeruns.
The Crawdads took game two against the Intimidators 2-1 on Wednesday night. Reid Anderson delivered his third consecutive seven inning start for the 'Dads. He allowed one earned run and struck out eight, earning the win. He has won his last four starts. Sam Huff hit his team-leading sixteenth homerun.
The 'Dads completed the four game sweep over the Initimidators last night with wins in both games of the doubleheader.
The Crawdads won the first game 4-2. Ryan Dorow, Yohel Pozo, Preston Scott, and Pedro Gonzalez all had an RBI in the game. AJ Alexy pitched five and two thirds innings, striking out nine. He allowed two runs and got his fifth win of the season.
In the second game, Justin Jacobs hit and RBI double for the only run of the game as the 'Dads won 1-0. Alex Eubanks pitched six scoreless frames and Joe Kuzia recorded his second save.
Tonight, Friday August 10th, the 'Dads are taking on the Lakewood BlueClaws at 7pm. It is Superhero Night at the Frans and the Heroic Adventures Superheroes will be in attendance. Following the game the 'Dads will have a fireworks show. The Crawdads are in town through Monday.

We want to highlight some of our upcoming promotions and tell you about what we have planned for you on those nights. This week we are spotlighting our upcoming Star Wars Night.
Star Wars Night returns to the Frans two weeks from today on Friday, August 24th thanks to NC Pediatric Dentistry and Kicks 103.3 Costumed characters will be in attendance for fans to meet and take pictures with. The theme night will be capped off with a fireworks show presented by Lowes Foods and Unifour.
The Crawdads are in town through Monday. Tonight is Superhero night and Fireworks Friday. Tomorrow will be '90s night and App State night and the first 500 fans will receive a App State/Crawdads hat.
The 'Dads start a pivotal four game series tonight against the first place Lakewood BlueClaws.
