Portland, Maine - The Portland Pirates of the American Hockey League and Casco Bay Youth Hockey Association invite all children 10 and under to the "Try Hockey for Free Event" being held this Saturday (January 30th) at the Cumberland County Civic Center.
Email participant's name and age to president@cascobayhockey.com to register for the event. The session is limited to 60 participants. All participants must supply their own helmet, skates and stick, although full equipment is preferred if available. Youngsters do not have to be a member of Casco Bay Youth Hockey Association to participate in the event, which will include instruction, games, and a whole lot of fun. All participants will be required to register with USA Hockey for liability coverage in order to take part in the event. The "Try Hockey for Free Event" is part of USA Hockey's "Hockey Weekend Across America".
As part of USA Hockey's "Hockey Weekend Across America", the Pirates are offering a special $9 ticket to all USA Hockey Members, their family members and friends for their games on Friday (January 29th) and Saturday (January 30th) against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. On Friday the Pirates are encouraging all USA Hockey Members, their family members and friends to wear their favorite hockey jersey to the game. Saturday all USA Hockey Members are invited to "Bring a Friend to the Game" for FREE. The next Pirates (21-16-5-2) home game takes place Tuesday when the Manchester Monarchs visit the Cumberland County Civic Center for a 7 p.m. start. It's two-for-Tuesday presented by WBLM and WCYY as fans can purchase two tickets for $22. It's also Sun Tan City Ladies Night. Ladies can get an additional $2 off each ticket with a coupon available at any Sun Tan City location. While you are at the game you can play Pirates Bingo. Follow the numbers of player in the game who score a goal, register an assist or take a penalty - get five in a row and you win.
