BIRMINGHAM, AL - Two current Birmingham Legion FC players have received and accepted international call-ups to compete in July's CONCACAF Gold Cup- forward Junior Flemmings for Jamaica and midfielder Zach Herivaux for Haiti.
Haiti's first match in the tournament's qualification rounds is today, Friday, July 2nd at 3:30PM CT against Saint Vincent and the Grenadines in Miami, FL. If victorious, Haiti will then face off against the winner of Bermuda v. Barbados with a spot in the Gold Cup Group Stage on the line.
Herivaux, who has made seven appearances for Legion FC this season, and is third in interceptions, fourth in clearances, and tied for fifth in tackles, has made 15 appearances for the Haitian National Team, registering two assists. He played in four of the team's five 2019 Goal Cup matches, including the semifinal match against Mexico, when Haiti took the eventual tournament champs to extra time before falling 1-0.
Flemmings, who has also made seven appearances for Legion FC this season and is tied for second in assists and tied for third in shots, has made 10 appearances for Jamaica and scored one goal in a 2019 CONCACAF Nations League match versus Aruba. He played in all five of his team's 2019 Gold Cup matches, including a start against the U.S. Men's National Team in the semifinal on the opposite side of the bracket from Haiti v. Mexico.
Jamaica is scheduled to play three Group Stage matches, at least, this Gold Cup, on Monday, July 12, Friday, July 16, and Tuesday, July 20. All Gold Cup matches can be found on foxsports.com and across various Fox Sports channels.
