FC Tulsa News Release
OKLAHOMA CITY - FC Tulsa's unbeaten streak against OKC Energy FC is still alive.
A goalless draw at Taft Stadium made it seven matches in a row for FC Tulsa without a loss to OKC, extending its Black Gold Derby record. It was a cagey affair with few shots to come by for either side.
The best chances of the night fell to the boot and then the head of Tulsa forward Joaquín Rivas. In the first half, the Salvadoran international was played in alone by Rodrigo da Costa, but Rivas' first touch was eaten by the Taft turf monster and ended up in the hands of OKC keeper C.J. Cochran. Rivas's second chance came late in the second half when he got his head on a corner at the near post. Rivas tried to keep his header on frame at the near post, but it went just wide.
With the draw, FC Tulsa took four points from its two matches at OKC in 2021, with two more Black Gold Derbys to come at ONEOK Field in Tulsa. One win for Tulsa in those two matches will be enough to secure the Wrench for the second straight season.

WORMELL EARNS CLEAN SHEET
Keeper Austin Wormell continued his spectacular play in net, earning his first clean sheet of his young career. Through two matches, Wormell has allowed just one goal, a stoppage time tally that deflected off a Tulsa defender in a 2-1 victory last week over Rio Grande Valley FC.
SCORELINE A RARITY
FC Tulsa's blistering attack throughout its two seasons in the new era of the franchise hasn't led to many 0-0 draws. Tonight's result is just the second 0-0 scoreline in the FC Tulsa era and the first since last season's scoreless tie at ONEOK Field against San Antonio FC on August 12 of 2020.
SOLO GETS THE START
Defender Solomon Kwambe received his first start of the season with two FC Tulsa defenders missing tonight's match - Bradley Bourgeois (injury) and Jorge Corrales (international duty). It was Kwambe's first start since September 2, 2020.
MOLOTO RETURNS FROM INJURY
Midfielder Lebo Moloto received his first appearance of the season, coming on as a sub in the 74' minute. Moloto had missed the season's first nine matches with an injury suffered during preseason. The talented midfielder created one chance in his limited action.
UP NEXT
FC Tulsa will head back home next Saturday, July 10 to host Louisville City FC at ONEOK Field. The sides met a few weeks ago on June 19 when FC Tulsa nearly erased a three-goal deficit, ultimately falling 3-2. Next Saturday's match will be Teachers Appreciation Night at ONEOK Field.
