SIOUX FALLS, S.D.-The Sioux Falls Stampede Hockey Club regular season schedule with the Lincoln Stars ended with two wins from the Stampede that began with a 4-3 win Friday in Sioux Falls and ended with a Saturday night 4-2 win in Lincoln.
The first period only saw action within the penalty boxes for the two teams. The Stampede were served three penalties, cross checking on Clint Levens, slashing on Maddox Fleming, and a bench minor for having too many men on the ice. Lincoln had their own pair of penalties with a roughing and a slashing call.
The second period went scoreless for 17 minutes and five seconds, a streak that was broken by Sam Harris marking his 21st goal of the season off the one-timer from Nick Ring. Just over one minute later, Lincoln's Dashel Oliver answered Harris' goal with one of his own, tying the game heading into the third period.
The Stampede dominated the last 20 minutes of ice time with three additional goals. Harris found his second goal of the night, 22nd this season, during a powerplay advantage around four minutes into the period. Ryan Gordon then found his ninth goal of the season off assists from the Stampede's newest addition, JJ Wiebusch, and Jaksen Panzer. The Stars were able to find the net one more time 13:05 into the period, bringing the score to 3-2. Finally, the Stars pulled their goaltender, Lucas Massie, and Will McDonough broke away from the pack to cement the win for the Herd.
Goaltender Caleb Heil earned his third career win during his third game with the Stampede, remaining undefeated in the United States Hockey League. Heil marked 33 saves off 35 shots on his net for a save percentage of .943. His career save percentage now sits at .926 this season with 100 saves and eight goals against.
The Herd is back in action with an away series against the Tri-City Storm on March 3 and 4 in Kearney, Neb. Both games will be broadcasted on FloHockey.TV and KELO Radio. The next time the Stampede will be back in Sioux Falls for a matchup against the Waterloo Black Hawks on Mar. 10 and against Fargo Force on Mar. 11.
