Herd Comes Up Short In Fourth Quarter Battle Against The Charge

OSHKOSH, Wis. - The Wisconsin Herd, NBA G League affiliate of the Milwaukee Bucks, lost to the Cleveland Charge 107-102. Cleveland powered ahead early in the game outscoring the Herd 27-15 in the first quarter. Wisconsin made a quick recovery in the second quarter shooting 60% from the field and converting 14 points off Cleveland turnovers. The Herd took the advantage early in the third quarter and outscored the Charge by five points to remain ahead at the break. The fourth quarter turned into a battle between the two teams resulting in seven lead changes but ultimately the Charge came out on top.

Milwaukee Bucks Two-Way player Marques Bolden guided the team with a double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds while Elijah Hughes followed with 17 points. Drew Timme added a double-double as well with 13 points and 10 rebounds.

The Cleveland Charge was led by Sharife Cooper with 25 points while Pete Nance and Zhaire Smith followed with 19 points apiece.

The Cleveland Charge scored the first points of the game, but Stevie Thompson Jr. and Marques Bolden combined for eight points to grab the lead. The Charge responded by building a seven-point edge at the five-minute mark. The Herd fought back to come within two points, but the Charge pushed forward by double digits at the break (27-15).

Elijah Hughes brought the energy with seven straight points to open the second quarter. The Herd continued the momentum shifting a 12-point deficit to a two-point game with four minutes remaining. Cleveland regained a nine-point lead, but the Herd responded with a 7-0 run to end the half. The Charge led 51-49 at the end of the second quarter. Elijah Hughes and Stevie Thompson Jr. guided the Herd with 11 points each in the first half.

Marques Bolden and Elijah Hughes teamed up for six points to give Wisconsin its first lead since the beginning of the game, early in the third quarter. The two teams traded the lead twice before coming to a tie at 61-61 with six minutes remaining. Marques Bolden slammed a two-handed dunk, but Cleveland charged ahead. Drew Timme and Alex Antetokounmpo powered the Herd to a 13 - 2 run to give the Herd a 78-75 upper hand at the end of the third.

The two teams exchanged the lead many times to start the fourth quarter before Marques Bolden scored three consecutive baskets to propel the Herd up. Cleveland stayed close and eventually took a six-point advantage at the three-minute mark. Wenyen Gabriel made back-to-back baskets while Elijah Hughes added a jump shot to make it a two-point game. The Charge increased its lead to six points until TyTy Washington Jr. made a three-pointer with seven seconds left. The Charge secured two free throws to end the game and win 107-102.

The Herd will head back to Wisconsin for its home opener on Thursday, November 16 against the Iowa Wolves with tip-off set for 6:00 p.m. CST.
