Frederick Keys News Release

Tied at two in the bottom of the ninth, the Frederick Keys put together a two-out rally. With runners at first and third, Frederick 3B Tyler Henson hit an RBI-single to left, as the Keys defeated the Salem Red Sox Tuesday night 3-2.

The Keys jumped on the scoreboard first in the bottom of the second. DH Brandon Waring (17) drilled a solo homerun to left-center field, giving Frederick a 1-0 lead.

Frederick tacked on a second run in the fourth. SS Pedro Florimon hit a single to center. He advanced to second on a ground out. C Caleb Joseph knocked him in with an RBI-single, extending the lead to two.

That's all the Keys would score off of Salem starter RHP Stephen Fife. He ended up going six innings, allowing just the two runs on six hits, while striking out five.

Frederick LHP Rick Zagone cruised through the first four innings, before being touched up in the fifth. Salem 2B Luis Segovia led off the inning with a double. He advanced third on a ground out, before scoring on CF Che-Hsuan Lin's sac fly to left.

Salem tied the ball game up in the sixth. RF Daniel Nava led off the frame with a single. The next hitter, DH Mike Jones, then doubled, putting runners on second and third with nobody out. Nava was eventually knocked in on a ground ball to first, tying the game at two.

Zagone left after allowing the tying run to score. He went 5.2, and surrendered the two runs on five hits. He walked four and struck out three.

The southpaw gave way to RHP Eddie Gamboa, who was sensational tonight. Gamboa held the tie, tossing 3.1 scoreless innings, while striking out five.

With two men down in the bottom of the ninth, the Keys rallied. Waring and Joseph hit back-to-back singles. Henson then hit a low liner at SS Kris Negron. The ball skidded off his glove and into left for the game-winning hit.

Gamboa (3-0) was the winner for Frederick. RHP Dave McKae (1-4) took the loss.

The Keys will go for the sweep of the Red Sox on Wednesday night at Harry Grove Stadium. Former WWE Super Star King Kong Bundy will be in attendance. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 PM. For ticket info, contact the Keys box office at 1-877-8-GO-KEYS.
