Hensick's Four Points Highlight Rivermen Win

T.J. Hensick had a career-high four points and Jake Allen made 40 saves in Peoria's 5-4 win over the Rockford IceHogs Wednesday night at the BMO Harris Bank Center. Anthony Peluso's goal with 3:34 left in the third period broke a 4-4 tie and stood up as the game-winner.

Hensick has now racked up 11 points (2g, 9a) in his last four games and leads the team with 16 points on the season. Derek Nesbitt extended his goal-scoring streak to four games. The win snapped Peoria's seven game winless streak (0-5-1-1) and was their first road victory of the season.

A shorthanded goal by Martin St. Pierre at the 4:21 mark of the first period gave Rockford a 1-0 lead. St. Pierre snapped a shot from the left dot that beat Allen over the glove. The goal was unassisted.

Peoria responded on the power play courtesy of Jaden Schwartz's third goal of the season. Mark Cundari wristed one from the blueline that was tipped by Schwartz past Carter Hutton just 8 seconds into the man advantage. Evgeny Grachev and Phil McRae added assists on the goal scored at 11:52 of the first.

At 16:13, Hensick scored his fourth goal of the year to give the Rivermen their first lead of the night. With Peoria on a 2-on-1 rush, Ian Cole backhanded a pass to Hensick who buried it for the goal. Anthony Nigro earned the secondary assist on the play.

Peter LeBlanc scored Rockford's second shorthanded goal of the evening to tie the contest at 7:58 of the second period. LeBlanc beat Allen five-hole with a shot from the left circle for his second goal of the saeson.

Nesbitt scored his fifth goal of the year with 6:07 remaining in the second to give the Rivermen the lead back. Nesbitt took a cross-ice pass from Hensick and fired a shot over the glove of Hutton. Anthony Peluso earned the other assist.

The IceHogs tied the game 5:16 into the third period. Brandon Saad tapped in a feed from Marcus Kruger for his second goal of the season. St. Pierre had an assist on the tally.

The Rivermen took a 4-3 lead at the 9:58 mark of the third thanks to Phil McRae's first goal of the season. McRae blasted a shot from the right circle that went off the cross bar and into the net. Hensick and Brent Regner had the assists.

With 5:06 remaining in regulation Jeremy Morin scored his fifth goal of the season to tie the game at 4. Ben Smith took a shot that deflected off the skate of Morin past Allen. Brandon Pirri earned an assist on the goal.

At 16:26, Peluso scored his fifth goal of the year to give the Rivermen a 5-4 lead late in the third period. Peluso blocked a Nesbitt shot and wristed one high past Hutton to ultimately get the game winner. Hensick earned his third assists of the night on Peoria's fifth goal.

The Rivermen were outshot by Rockford 44-25. Peoria went 1-for-4 on the power play.
