
Hendrix Homers and Captains Win 4-3

Lake County Captains News Release
(Eastlake, OH)- Paul Hendrix hammered his 12th home run of the season and the Captains went on to beat Dayton 4-3 on Thursday Night. The homer came in the bottom of the seventh inning with Clint Frazier on First base. The Captains won the rubber game of the series and are now 23-18 in one run games.
Lake County scored a run in the bottom of the second inning. With two runners on base, Richard Stock smacked a single through the right side and the Captains took the 1-0 lead. The Captains tacked on another run in the bottom of the fifth inning on an RBI double from Nellie Rodriguez. For Nellie, it was his 24th double of the season and his 69th RBI.
Dayton scored three runs in the top of the sixth inning. Dayton used just two hits, two walks and a costly error to help fuel the inning. Dayton sent eight men to the plate and the big hit in the frame was a two run single from the catcher Jose Ortiz. The score was 3-2 Dragons after six innings.
LHP Anderson Polanco (2-0) took the mound for Lake County. Polanco pitched five innings and allowed just two hits and two walks. Polanco struck out eight. Justin Brantley entered in relief in the top of the sixth inning. Brantley allowed three earned runs on two walks and two hits. Brantley pitched just one inning and fanned one. The win went to Wander Beras. Beras (3-2) pitched two scoreless innings, and he walked two and fanned one. Trevor Frank pitched a scoreless ninth inning to earn his 13th save on the season.
RHP Sal Romano (7-10) started the game for the Dragons. Romano pitched four innings and allowed four hits and one earned run. Romano walked two and struck out five. Dayton used three relief pitchers to finish the game. The loss went to Nolan Becker. Becker (1-2) pitched one inning and allowed two hits, the homer to Hendrix and he fanned three.
Lake County will embark on a six-game road trip starting on Friday. The Captains will open up a three-game series with Fort Wayne. Lake County will give the ball to RHP Dace Kime (6-13, 5.04) and the TinCaps will counter with RHP Kyle Lloyd (5-4, 3.97). First Pitch will be at 7:05 PM from Parkview Field in Fort Wayne, IN.
