Abbotsford Heat News Release

Abbotsford downed the Hous- ton Aeros twice in as many nights, and for a third and fourth straight time this season. Henrik Karlsson backstopped the club to both victories and picked up his first and second AHL wins of his career stopping 44 of 47 shots fired his way.

Friday's 3-2 win featured a goal for the newest member of the Heat as 6'6" Hugh Jessiman net- ted his career-high 21st of the season. Adam Estoclet chipped in with a pair of helpers and re- peated the feat again the next night and finished the set against the Aeros with four assists.

Saturday's 4-1 decision also in- cluded rookie Ryan Howse's "biggest relief of (his) hockey ca- reer" as he lit the lamp for the first time as pro. Greg Nemisz and Quintin Laing each made their return over the weekend after being sidelined with injury and had an immediate impact as both scored on the man-advan- tage. For Nemisz it was his sec- ond goal in as many games.

The Abbotsford Heat make their final pass through the American Midwest this week beginning Tuesday in Peoria, when the club faces the Rivermen for the first time this season. The Heat have faced all 13 other Conference rivals already this campaign, and will play the Rivermen four times prior to mid-March, with the Rivermen hosting the Heat for a second time this Sunday, before visiting the Abbotsford Entertainment & Sports Centre for two games on March 9th and 11th.

The current twelve-day, five- game road trip will also see stops in Milwaukee on Friday, and Chi- cago on Saturday. The Heat are (1-2-0-0) against the Admirals this year with the lone victory coming in a shootout while they are (2-3-0-0) versus the Wolves. This weekend closes out a four- game set with the Admirals, and will leave just two of eight games remaining between the Wolves and Heat.

The Heat arrive in Illinois on the heels of back-to-back home wins, and will look to improve on their strong road record (18-9-0- 0) this season that has them just two off the AHL leading mark of 20 road victories.

The two newest members of the Abbotsford Heat have enjoyed early success with the club, as forwards Adam Estoclet and Hugh Jessiman were both key fac- tors in this past weekend's victories against the Hous- ton Aeros.

Jessiman, who signed as a free agent with Abbots- ford on February 13th, tallied his 21st goal of the season in his Heat debut Friday night, which is a new career high for the seven year AHL veteran. The 6'6", 231 pound New York product known as 'Huge Speciman' earned first star honours in his first game in front of Heat fans. As an encore Jessiman potted an assist on the eventual game-winner Saturday night.

Meanwhile, Adam Estoclet played in his second and third games with the Heat after he was acquired in a trade from the Grand Rapids Griffins on February 12th. Estoclet also hit the scoresheet in the wins against Houston, chipping in with a pair of assists in each triumph.
