Abbotsford Heat News Release

WILKES-BARRE PA - The Abbotsford Heat would put up a valiant effort against the AHL leaders the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins on Wednesday night, but would fall in overtime to the Penguins by a score of 2-1.

Matt Keetley was excellent in goal for the Heat on this night, despite taking the loss. The two Penguins goals, one by Keven Veilleux early in the first, and the winner by Nick Johnson in overtime, were both tipped in past the net minder, who had no chance on either goal. Both Penguins goals went in off shin pads, so the Heat were unable to get a bounce on this night.

Keith Seabrook would score the game tying goal with under two minutes to play in the third period. Ryan Stone would win the faceoff deep in the Penguins zone. Jon Rheault would chop the puck to TJ Brodie at the point. Brodie quickly moved the puck cross ice to Seabrook. Seabrook banged a hard shot past Penguins goalie John Curry to tie the game at 18:17.

With the OT loss, the Heat gains a point in the standings and now have tied the Hamilton Bulldogs for first place in the North Division. The Heat and Penguins will renew their hostilities on Friday night in Wilkes-Barre, PA. Pregame show will start at 3:50 PM, with the opening faceoff at 4:05 PM.
