PP: Albany 0 for 0, Binghamton 2 for 3
Barry Brust stopped all 25 shots faced, earning his third shutout of the season, leading the B-Sens to a 5-0 victory over the East Division rival. Erik Condra and Corey Locke each tallied a goal and an assist in the contest, while defenseman Derek Smith added a pair of assists. Colin Greening, Mike Hoffman and Zack Smith rounded out the scoring for the B-Sens, who snapped a four-game skid with the victory.
Saturday, Dec. 11: Rochester 4, Binghamton 3 - Shootout
Shots: Rochester 33, Binghamton 48
PP: Rochester 2 for 7, Binghamton 1 for 5
The B-Sens kicked off a home-and-home series with the Rochester Americans Saturday night at the Blue Cross Arena. Derek Smith, Jim O'Brien and Corey Locke each scored in regulation, while Robin Lehner turned away 29 of 32 Amerks shots to force overtime. Despite outshooting Rochester 6-0 in extra time, the teams progressed to a shootout. A.J. Jenks scored the lone goal of the shootout in the fourth round to lift the Amerks to victory. Rochester's Clay Wilson earned first star honors in the game scoring a goal and adding an assist.
Sunday, Dec. 12: Binghamton 6, Rochester 5 - Shootout
Shots: Binghamton 38, Rochester 33
PP: Binghamton 1 for 4, Rochester 1 for 3
The B-Sens wrapped up a stretch of three games in three nights, and a home-and-home with Rochester Sunday at the Blue Cross Arena. For the second straight game, the teams would need a shootout to decide a winner. Andre Benoit and Kaspars Daugavins each tallied goals in the shootout to help lead the B-Sens past the Amerks. Erik Condra led the offensive charge for Binghamton recording a goal and adding three assists. Derek Smith had a three-point night notching a goal and two assists, while Andre Benoit (one goal, one assist) and Corey Locke (two goals) would each take home two points.
Record: 12-12-2-2
Standings: The B-Sens are fifth place in the East Division (28 points).
THIS WEEK...
Friday, Dec. 17 vs. Syracuse Crunch (Anaheim Ducks)
The Syracuse Crunch return to the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena for the fourth of eight meetings between the two teams this season. The B-Sens have shutout the Crunch in their past two meetings. Robin Lehner made 33 saves as the B-Sens defeated the Crunch 5-0 on Nov. 7. Barry Brust also turned away 33 shots enroute to the 4-0 B-Sens victory on Nov. 17. In total, the B-Sens have outscored the Crunch 10-2 so far this season. Nicolas Deschamps, who is currently ranked second overall among all Crunch skaters in points (8+715), has scored one of the two goals against Binghamton this season. The Crunch roster has noticeably changed since their last trip to Binghamton; on Nov. 22 Anaheim acquired forwards David Laliberte and Patrick Maroon from the Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for Danny Syvret and Rob Bordson.
Promotions: The B-Sens welcome Santa Claus to the Arena Friday night! Santa will be on the concourse throughout the game handing out candy canes to children in attendance.
Saturday, Dec. 18 vs. Charlotte Checkers (Carolina Hurricanes)
The Charlotte Checkers return to Binghamton for the first time since Oct. 30. The meeting will be the third of eight between the two teams. So far, each game the B-Sens have played against the Checkers has required overtime to determine a winner. The B-Sens defeated the Checkers 4-3 on Oct. 29 as Bobby Butler net the OT winner, while the Checkers went on to defeat the B-Sens 3-2 on Oct. 30 with Casey Borer receiving credit for the overtime winner. The B-Sens are chasing the Checkers in the standings. Charlotte enters the week ranked third overall in the East Division with a record of 15-9-1-3 and 34 points. Charlotte will likely be without defenseman Bryan Rodney, who was recalled by Carolina yesterday. Rodney leads all Checkers defenseman in scoring with 18 points (five goals, 13 assists). Zach Boychuk leads all Checkers in scoring with 10 goals and 22 assists for 32 points. He is hot on the trail of B-Sens forward Corey Locke, who currently leads the AHL in scoring with 11 goals and 23 assists for 34 points.

Sunday, Dec. 19 @ Rochester Americans (Florida Panthers)
The B-Sens wrap up another stretch of three games in three nights with a visit to the Blue Cross Arena in Rochester, N.Y. The game will be the fourth of eight meetings between the intra-division rivals and the fourth game in six nights for the Amerks this week. Rochester has struggled at home this season. The Amerks enter the weekend with a 4-10-1-1 record in front of their hometown fans. Rochester's leading scorer Michal Repik has been hot against the B-Sens this season, recording one goal and adding five assists in three games against the Senators so far this season. Forward Clay Wilson isn't far behind having scored two goals and three assists in three games against Binghamton this season.
SENS SNIPPETS...
B-Sens forward Erik Condra received the B-Sens nomination for the Reebok/AHL Player of the Week for the week ending Dec. 12. Condra recorded seven points (two goals, five assists) in three games played last week. The Notre Dame alum recorded two points (one goal, one assist) in the B-Sens 5-0 shutout victory over Albany Friday night. Sunday night in Rochester Condra had a four point performance - one goal, three assists - as the B-Sens went on to defeat the Amerks 6-5 in a shootout. Saturday night in Binghamton, Condra would assist on Corey Locke's game tying goal, which forced overtime with Rochester. The Detroit, Michigan native is in his second full season with the Senators and currently ranks second overall in scoring for the B-Sens with 27 points (nine goals, 18 assists). He also currently leads his teammates in plus-minus with plus-14.
Condra's four point performance versus Rochester on Sunday was the first time since 2007 that a Binghamton Senator scored four or more points on the road. Denis Hamel last did it in Wilkes-Barre on Oct. 27, 2007. Hamel recorded three goals and added an assist in the B-Sens 4-2 win over the Penguins.
Defenseman Derek Smith also had a multi-point performance in Rochester on Sunday, notching a goal and two assists. His two assists have given him 80 total assists as a Binghamton Senator, moving him into fifth place on the B-Sens list of all-time leaders in assists.
The Ottawa Senators have loaned goaltender Robin Lehner to Sweden's national junior team for the 2011 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship set to take place in Buffalo, N.Y. from Dec. 26 to Jan. 5. Lehner will join the team on Saturday, Dec. 18.
B-SENS BRINGING IT HOME TO THE COMMUNITY...
The annual B-Sens pottery auction is set to take place on the main concourse of the Broome County
Veterans Memorial Arena Friday, Dec. 17 as the B-Sens host Syracuse and Saturday, Dec. 18 as they host Charlotte. Each Binghamton Senators player has painted a one of a kind soup mug and platter, provided by the ClayGround in Vestal, N.Y. The auction begins at 6 p.m. Friday and concludes 15 minutes following the Dec. 18 game. All proceeds will go to benefit the Magic Paintbrush Project.
