Winnipeg Blue Bombers News Release
WINNIPEG, MB - Offensive lineman Matt Sheridan has shown plenty of heart throughout his career with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
So it shouldn't come as much of a surprise that the fifth-year offensive guard is this year's recipient of the Cal Murphy Heart of a Legend Award. The award goes to the Blue Bomber player who best demonstrates outstanding sportsmanship and dedication to the CFL and community. Sheridan is also the team's nominee for the prestigious Tom Pate Memorial Award, which is presented annually by the CFL.
Sheridan, who was born and raised in Winnipeg, has given generously of his time to local charitable causes such as the Winnipeg Boys and Girls Club, Teen Touch, Winnipeg Harvest and the Raise-A-Reader literacy campaign.
Past winners of the Cal Murphy Heart of a Legend Award include Moe Elewonibi (2004, '02), Khari Jones (2003) and Dave Mudge (2001).
