
Hearn Homers, Pelicans Defeat GreenJackets 5-2

Myrtle Beach Pelicans News Release
The Myrtle Beach Pelicans took their third game of the week with a 5-2 victory over the Augusta GreenJackets on Friday night. Their third win in a row pushed them to a 63-31 overall record and 16-12 in the second half. Augusta dropped to 45-47 and 9-17 in their second half of the season.
Ethan Hearn (2-4, HR, 2 RBI) tallied his second multi-hit performance of the week and led the team with two RBI off his home run in the fourth inning. Jacob Wetzel (2-4, 2B) hit a double and logged a multi-hit game. The Pelicans racked up eight hits with four of them being extra.
Pelicans' starter Tyler Santana (8-1) picked up his eighth win of the year by throwing just under six innings with seven strikeouts. Santana allowed two earned runs off four hits and two walks in the win. Alfredo Zarraga came in and struck out the final batter to take his fourth save of the season.
The GreenJackets were held to seven singles with Adam Zebrowski (2-3, 2B, 2 RBI, BB) leading the home team with the only two runs driven in. Brandon Parker (2-3) and Stephen Paolini (2-3) helped with production from the middle of the lineup.
Friday's loss went to starter Jorge Bautista (0-2) with three runs, two earned allowed over his five innings. Bautista sacrificed five hits including the home run in the loss. Darling Florentino also allowed two earned runs in his one inning out of the bullpen. The Augusta defense committed three fielding errors throughout the game.
The Pelicans jumped to an early lead with a run in the opening frame. Josue Huma led the game off with a double but remained on second after two strikeouts. Kevin Alcantara hit Huma in on a fielding error by Francisco Floyd at short to give Myrtle Beach a 1-0 lead.
Augusta tied the game in the second with a run. Zebrowski came up with Paolini on first and doubled to left field to score the run.
Hearn's two-run shot gave the Pelicans the lead back in the top of the fourth. Wetzel got on with a one-out single and Triantos followed with a groundout. Hearn lined an 0-1 pitch over the wall in right field for his seventh home run of the season and gave the Birds a 3-1 advantage.
With two outs in the bottom of the sixth, the GreenJackets cut into the lead. Santana gave up a single and hit Paolini with a pitch to put two runners on. Johzan Oquendo came out of the bullpen and allowed an RBI single by Zebrowski to make it a 3-2 Pelicans lead.
The Pelicans added on to their lead with a two-run bottom of the seventh. With the bases loaded and nobody out, Parker Chavers reached on a fielder's choice to second base that was fumbled by Geraldo Quintero. Everybody was safe as a run came home. Ezequiel Pagan followed with a force out at second with another run scoring to make it 5-2 Myrtle Beach.
The Birds look to capture the series with their fourth win on Saturday night at 6:05 against the GreenJackets.
