Heaney (W, 1-0) picked up his first win of 2014 after firing six innings of shutout baseball, allowing just four hits and a walk, while his eight strikeouts would finish one shy of tying his career-high.

The Suns tagged Barons starter Myles Jaye (L, 0-1) for six runs (five earned) in five innings, with the righty walking two and striking out a handful of Suns.

Joe Benson would open the scoring for the Suns with a two-run ground rule double in the top of the first, and Jacksonville would add another run thanks to a run-scoring single off the bat of Ryan Fisher.

Danny Black pushed the lead to 4-0 in the top of the second inning after his RBI single scored Isaac Galloway.

Then for the second consecutive game, J.T. Realmuto (HR, 2) uncorked a two-run home run to give the Suns a 6-0 lead in the top of the third inning.

Jacksonville would be held off the scoreboard until Rich Poythress ripped a two-run double to left center in the ninth to make it 8-0 in favor of Jacksonville.

The Barons scored once in the ninth to break up the Suns' shutout, but Keenyn Walker grounded into a game ending double play to assure the Suns of the victory.

Righty reliever James Nygren (H, 1) worked two scoreless innings in his Southern League debut, before left-hander Tyler Higgins finished off the Barons in the ninth inning for Jacksonville, allowing one run in a non-save situation.

The Suns will go for the series win Friday night at 8:05 p.m. ET from Regions Field, with the Suns trotting out right-hander Angel Sanchez (0-1, 12.00) for game three of this five-game series with the Barons. Birmingham is scheduled to send lefty Scott Snodgress (0-1, 36.00) to the bump in Friday's ballgame.

Suns fans can listen to Friday's game on the Suns Baseball Network, 94.1 WSOS-FM or through www.jaxsuns.com, MiLB.com or the Suns iPhone or Android app, beginning at 7:50 p.m. ET with the Memorial Hospital Suns Pregame Show.
