HEAD COACH MAURO BIELLO DISMISSED

MONTREAL - The Montreal Impact announced on Monday, during its 2017 post-mortem, that head coach Mauro Biello will not return to lead the team in 2018.

His coaching staff composed by assistant coaches Jason Di Tullio and Wilfried Nancy, goalkeeper coach Jack Stern and fitness coach Yannick Girard were also dismissed.

"Mauro spend his whole career here. He is a true builder of the club and of soccer in Quebec. The current situation does not change anything to what he represents for the club," announced Impact president Joey Saputo. "I know this is a difficult moment for him and the decision was not an easy one for the club. We have gone through a very difficult season and we have not reached our objectives. Moreover, we have experienced recurring problems that have not been corrected. Today, almost three years after he has taken charge of the team, we think it is time for change. We intend to hire a new head coach with international experience in the coming weeks."

The Impact wants to thank Mauro, Jason, Wilfried, Jack and Yannick for their contribution to the club and wishes them the best of luck in their future endeavours.
