Boise Hawks News Release
The Boise Hawks (21-17) finished off the first half of the season with an 11-10 victory over the Everett AquaSox (20-18) by a final score of 11-10. LJ Hatch made his return to the Boise lineup with a walk-off single to get the Hawks a win.
The AquaSox sent Connor Hoover up to start the game, and he hit a leadoff home run to make it 1-0 Everett. Everett got another run in the first when Ryan Garcia singled in Connor Kopach, and it was off to the races. The AquaSox led 2-0 after the top of the first inning.
Boise answered right back. In the home-half of the first, after Matt Hearn had a triple, it was Terrin Vavra with an RBI groundout to make it 2-1. Willie MacIver came up later and had an RBI triple to make the score 2-2. Boise would end up tripling three times for the game.
After the AquaSox got a two-run home run from Connor Hoover in the 2nd, for his 2nd of the game, Boise got three straight RBI singles from Terrin Vavra, Luke Morgan and Danny Edgeworth. Boise led 5-4 after two. But the Aqua Sox got five runs in the 3rd inning, including a Nick Rodriguez home run and they knocked Hawks starter Pearson McMahan out for the game. McMahan finished going 2.1 innings, allowing nine earned runs.
With the score at 9-5, Boise got a run in the 3rd to make it 9-6 on a Cade Harris RBI triple. Keinter Olivares gave the Hawks 3.1 innings of shutout baseball. Followed by two innings from Peyton Gray. In the 5th inning the Hawks evened it at nine when Harris hit a three-run home run to make it 9-9.
Harris had himself a 2-3, four-RBI game
Boise made it 10-9 in the 8th on an error by the 2nd baseman Nick Rodriguez with a runner on 3rd base. Daniel Jipping scored from third. In the 9th, Terrin Vavra got a sharp groundball that he couldn't handle at shortstop, allowing a run to score from 3rd off of Boise pitcher Jefry Valdez. It would be an earned run for Valdez who went just the 9th inning allowing only the one run.
With the game tied at 10 in the 9th, Daniel Jipping walked, and then stole 2nd base. On the throw down to 2nd base, the ball rolled into the outfield and Jipping got to 3rd base. With the infield up on the grass, Hatch singled into left giving Boise the 11-10 victory.
Boise will hit the road for a three-game series with the Hillsboro Hops to begin the 2nd half of the season. All three games will start at 8:05 p.m. M.T. They can be heard on 101.5 KOOL-FM.
