Slow Start Derails Dust Devils
July 24, 2018 - Northwest League (NWL1)
Tri-City Dust Devils News Release
A tough first inning proved to be too much for the Tri-City Dust Devils (18-20) to overcome on Monday night as the team lost 9-1 to the Eugene Emeralds (14-24). The Dust Devils will start their campaign to capture the second half championship in the Northwest League's North Division on Tuesday.
Tri-City's starting pitcher Adrian Martinez was unable to make it out of the first inning. He recorded one out before the Dust Devils turned to the bullpen. Martinez suffered the loss after allowing five runs off of seven hits. Olivier Basabe had a strong night at the plate in the loss, finishing the game with two hits and a stolen base.
The team will now head out of town for the longest road trip of the season. The eight-game road swing will begin in Spokane on Tuesday night. Right-hander Cole Bellinger is scheduled to start the series opener. Tri-City will return home on August 1st to begin a five-game series against the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes. It will be Hero Night presented by Pita Pit. Great seats are available by calling the Dust Devils' front office at (509) 544-8789 or by going to www.dustdevilsbaseball.com to purchase tickets.
