
Hawks Win at Everett for 1st Time Since 2016

The Boise Hawks (24-24) beat the Everett AquaSox (25-23) by final score of 4-2 on Thursday night. The Hawks snapped their seven game losing streak at Everett Memorial Stadium that dated back to 2016.
Boise scored the games first runs. The Hawks got singles from Luke Morgan and Terrin Vavra in the 1st inning. With runners on first and second-base, an error allowed Danny Edgeworth on, and the bases were loaded.
Willie MacIver ripped a single with the bases-loaded and the Hawks took a 2-0 lead after one inning. Boise starter Justin Valdespina hurled five innings for the Hawks allowing just one run and it came in the 2nd inning on a RBI single for Ryan Ramiz. Valdespina picks up his 2nd win of the year.
With Boise up 2-1 in the 6th inning, the Hawks added a run on an error from the third-baseman Bobby Honeyman. With a man on 3rd base, a groundball snuck under the glove of Honeyman and Luke Morgan scored from third-base making it 3-1 Hawks.
A solo home run for Cal Raleigh quickly made it a 3-2 game as the AquaSox trailed by just one run after the 6th inning. The home run came off Colten Schmidt who threw for the first time since June 17th. Schmidt went one inning allowing just one run.
Boise got a huge two out RBI-single from Terrin Vavra in the 7th inning and the Hawks took a 4-2 lead. It was Peyton Gray who went two innings striking out four batters.
PJ Poulin came on in the 9th inning and wrapped it up for the Hawks as he struck out three batters despite walking one, and he picked up his 5th save of the season.
Luke Morgan finishes 4-4 with two-runs scored as the Hawks go to 24-24 on the year and Everett goes to 25-22.
Boise will play the 3rd game of the series in Everett tomorrow at 8:05 MT. The Hawks will return home after the All-Star break on August 9th for "Thirsty Thursday" against the Spokane Indians. First pitch will be at 7:15 MT. Get your tickets at BoiseHawks.com or call 208-322-5000.
