Boise Hawks News Release

Grand Junction, CO - A true team effort saw the Boise Hawks get back in the win column, defeating the Grand Junction Rockies by a final score of 12-2 at Suplizio Field on Wednesday night.

Things started beautifully for Boise, getting Myles Miller and Jason Dicochea on base to start the game with a pair of singles. Some situational hitting from Christian Funk would move both runners over and then Wladimir Galindo hit a fly ball to right field to bring home Miller and make it 1-0 Hawks.

In the third inning Grand Junction would tie the game, with Nate Scantlin hitting a laser beam line drive that barely cleared the right field fence to make it 1-1.

The Hawks would not allow the game to get close again, scoring runs at least one run in every inning from the fourth until the ninth, putting up three in the fourth, one in the fifth and sixth, three more in the seventh, two in the eighth, and ending the game plating a runner in the top of the ninth.

As a team Boise finished the night with 17 hits, getting at least one hit from eight of the ten position players in the lineup, including Bo McClintock's second homer in as many games, as he hit a solo shot in the sixth.

Matt Dallas went seven incredible innings, giving up just two runs on six hits, both runs coming on solo home runs, and striking out ten to recapture the PBL lead in strikeouts with 56.

Luke Dawson came in for relief of Dallas in the eighth, throwing two scoreless frames while striking out four batters to cap off the Hawks victory.

Boise will try and make it two in a row when the two teams meet tomorrow at Suplizio field for game two of the series. Jay Baggs will head out to the hill for Boise, trying to get back on track after he went just two thirds of an inning against Missoula in game one of the Hawks doubleheader last Friday.
