Hawks Take Series

August 2, 2007 - Canadian American League (Can-Am)
Sussex Skyhawks News Release

It appears as if the Skyhawks may be turning their season around, and ready to make a run at the second half crown. The Skyhawks defeated the Capitales 4-2, to win the four game set by taking 3 out of 4 from the 2nd place Quebec Capitales. The Skyhawks combined excellent pitching as well as a big inning to win tonight's ball game. In the 2nd inning the Skyhawks scored 4 runs by stringing together several hits against Capitales starter Brad McLaughlin, who was great other than his rocky 2nd inning. Skyhawks starter Ryan Dittfurth was superb until he ran out of gas in the 7th inning, allowing only 1 run in 6 1/3 innings while striking out 8. The Skyhawks pen was also solid as Bart Braun Jr. and Dave Lipson combined for 6 strikeouts and only 1 run in 2 2/3 inninghs. Jabe Bergeron was the hitting star as he went 3-4 with an RBI double. The Skyhawks hope that this series will propel them back into contention for the second half crown. The Skyhawks look to continue their winning ways, as they go on the road to take on the New Haven County Cutters for a 3 game series.
