Perry, Vicaro Are League's Monthly Best

DURHAM, NC - PA Sportsticker, the official statistician of the Can-Am League, has selected Worcester Tornadoes C/DH Patrick Perry and New Jersey Jackals RHP Michael Vicaro as the B45 Players of the Month for July.

In 28 games for the Tornadoes, Perry hit .360 (36-for-100) with five home runs, 25 RBI and 23 runs scored. The Longmont, CO resident also hit five doubles to go along with a .560 slugging percentage and a .445 on-base percentage. Perry on the season is batting .327 with six home runs, 40 RBI, 14 doubles and 72 hits. The 24-year-old was a Player of the Week recipient for July 2nd-July 8th.

Perry was a seventh round selection of the Boston Red Sox in the 2004 MLB draft. He played two seasons with the Red Sox before coming over to the Tornadoes in 2006. Last season with Worcester, he hit .246 with 16 runs scored, 30 hits and 11 RBI in 42 games played.

Vicaro had a solid month of July for the first half champion New Jersey Jackals. The Randolph, NJ resident in six starts went 5-1 with a 2.48 ERA in 40 innings pitched. He allowed 29 hits, 11 earned runs and 15 walks while striking out 30 batters. Currently, the righthander is sporting an 8-3 record with a 2.99 ERA in 78 1/3 innings pitched. Vicaro is tied for second in the league in wins and is ninth among league leaders in earned run average.

The 23-year-old is in his second season of professional baseball, both with New Jersey. Vicaro is a combined 9-3 with an earned run average of 3.71 in 23 games played.
