Hawks Swoop Away Win from Indians

SPOKANE, WA - The Spokane Indians had the lead going into the 9th inning, but the Boise Hawks tied it up and ended up winning 3-2 in the 11th inning on a solo home run by Kyler Burke. The Indians lead is now at six games ahead of Boise in the Northwest League East.

Spokane was leading 2-1 going into the top of the 9th until Andrew Rundle grounded out to score Ryan Sontag and tie the game. The Indians two runs came from a two run home run by Dennis Guinn. Guinn finished the night 1 for 4.

Indians starter Martin Perez failed to pick up his first win of the season with the blown save by Corey Young, his third this season. Perez gave up just three hits and one run in five innings of work. Trevor Hurley picked up the loss after giving up the go ahead run.

The Indians return to Avista Stadium tomorrow for the second of the three game homestand against Boise. Tomorrow night is Rally Towel Giveaway presented by the Spokane Tribe, K102 FM, and Spokane Metro Magazine.
