Portland Winterhawks News Release
The Winterhawks carried play and outshot their opponents, but a 34-save shutout from Tyler Palmer carried the Everett Silvertips to a 4-0 victory at Angel of the Winds Arena on Sunday.
Portland's record now stands at 37-14-2-1 on the year (77pts).
After the Winterhawks took their sixth win of the season series with a dominant 10-2 showing against Everett on Sunday, Julius Miettinen got the Silvertips off on the right foot this time with a fluttering shot from the slot that eluded Jan Špunar late in the first. Everett doubled its lead in the second period when Ben Hemmerling capitalized on a Portland turnover, and empty-net goals by Cade Zaplitny and Niko Tsakumis put the game out of reach late in the third period.
Jan Špunar finished with 23 saves on 25 shots for Portland.
The Winterhawks are on the road again next week with back-to-back games in Victoria on Friday and Saturday.
