Portland Winterhawks News Release

Portland, OR - Portland Winter Hawks' fans have proven yet again that they are some of the best fans in sports. Through silent auctions and chuck-a-puck proceeds, the Winter Hawks are pleased to announce that $11,166.08 has been raised for the Graydon Bishop Medical Fund.

Graydon is the four-year-old son of Spokane Chiefs trainer Darcy Bishop and was diagnosed with leukemia earlier this year. Graydon is scheduled for treatment consisting of chemotherapy and other medications for at least the next three years. In order to help the Bishops meet expenses, teams across the Western Hockey League have raised money through silent auctions and fundraisers. All proceeds go to the Graydon Bishop Medical Fund, which is administered by the Spokane Chiefs Hockey Club.

In addition, Thrivent Financial, a Spokane Chiefs corporate sponsor, matched a portion of the contributions made in March.

Items auctioned off on behalf of the Bishops included a team autographed Anaheim Mighty Ducks jersey, autograpghed sticks from Joe Sakic, Mike Modano, Marian Hossa, Paul Gaustad and countless other players, Dustin Butler's game worn goalie mask, Braydon Coburn autographed jersey, special edition Team Canada jacket and more. Special thanks to Winter Hawks' trainer Innes Mackie for his resourcefulness in support of of this fundraiser.
