Boise Hawks News Release

BOISE, Idaho - Jordan Ribera went 3-for-4, including a tie-breaking two-run homer, helping the Tri-City Dust Devils to a 7-2 victory over the Boise Hawks, before 2,654 fans at Memorial Stadium.

Tri-City took an early 1-0 lead in the second on an RBI single through the leftside by Dominic Altobelli, but the Hawks responded in the third, as Ben Klafczynski chopped a bad-hop RBI single up the middle to knot the score.

In the fifth inning, after a leadoff walk to Jeffrey Squier, Ribera golfed a Cam Greathouse pitch off the top of the wall in right and out for go-ahead two-run shot. Boise got within a run at 3-2 in the sixth on a Pin-Chieh Chen run-scoring single, but Kenny Socorro grounded into an inning-ending double play with the tying run stranded a third.

The Dust Devils would get much needed insurance runs in the ninth, as with two outs, Jordan Ballard roped a grand slam homer to left field - capping the scoring.

Stephen Head picked up his first professional win with two hitless innings of relief, while Kenneth Roberts retired all six men he faced for his first save. Ryan Casteel had three hits in the win for Tri-City.

Chen extended his hit streak to six games with two hits, while Dustin Harrington went 2-for-3 in the loss for the Hawks, who had a two-game win streak snapped.

The series finale is tomorrow night, with Ricardo Ferrer going for Tri-City against Austin Reed for Boise at 7:15 p.m.

NOTES: Boise stranded a season-high ten men in the loss...Paul Hoilman walked three times, and has now registered 11 free passes this season, tops in the NWL...former Hawk Josh Harrison was sent down to AAA Indianapolis by the Pittsburgh Pirates this afternoon.
