
Hawks Fall to Giants 7-1

The Vancouver Giants got a four-point night from Casey Pierro-Zabotel and defeated the Portland Winter Hawks by a score of 7-1 in front of 6,320 at the Pacific Coliseum on Saturday night.
Pierro-Zabotel scored once and assisted on three others for the Giants while Evander Kane added one goal and two assists. Vancouver got single markers from Jonathan Blum, Lance Bouma, Craig Schira, Ondrej Kudrna and James Henry in the win.
Portland's lone goal came from 16 year old rookie Brad Ross, finishing off a pretty passing play with Killian Hutt and Chris Francis early in the second period. The goal broke a scoreless stretch of 153:14 for Portland. Kurtis Mucha started in net for Portland and stopped 13 of 16 shots in one period of action before being relieved by Jordan White at the start of the second period. White would stop 18 of 22 in the final forty minutes as the Giants out-shot the Hawks 38-20. Jamie Tucker stopped 19 shots in the victory for Vancouver.
On special teams, Portland went 0 for 4 on the power play while Vancouver went 2 for 3.
