
Tokarski Sets Mark, Shuts Out Everett

Five different players scored goals and Dustin Tokarski picked up his third shutout of the season, 11th of his career, as the Spokane Chiefs defeated the Everett Silvertips 5-0 on Friday night in the Spokane Arena. Tokarski's career mark set a new franchise record as he stopped 30 shots, including 18 in the third.
Spokane outshot the Silvertips 50-30, setting a season high for shots and goals.
Tyler Johnson scored first for Spokane at 8:17 of the opening period as he redirected a Mike Reddington shot between his legs and inside the left post for his first of the year. Stefan Ulmer also assisted on the goal.
Two second period goals pushed the lead to 3-0 through 40-minutes as Drayson Bowman, on a backhand that went high, and Mitch Wahl, who undressed an Everett defender, tallied for the Chiefs. Through two, Spokane's shot total was 28-12.
Jared Cowen scored on the power play at 4:26 of the third and Blake Gal scored his second of the season at 15:09.
Spokane was 2-6 on the power play and 6-6 on the penalty kill.
The Chiefs week will end with a trip to Seattle on Saturday at 7:00. Mike Boyle will go on the air at 6:30 with Comcast Hockey Tonight on 1510 KGA.
Next Friday, Spokane will travel to Portland before their next home game on Saturday night against the Silvertips again. Following the game, Chiefs fans are invited to skate with the Chiefs.
