YAKIMA, Wash. - Two two-run first inning home runs helped the Boise Hawks end a two-game losing streak, knocking off the Yakima Bears, 11-3, at County Stadium. Rafael Lopez crushed a two-run shotwith one out in the first, with Ben Klafczynski launching his own two-run homer in the frame, as Boise jumped out to a 4-0 lead. The Hawks would put the game away with a four-run seventh, capped by a Willson Contreras two-run triple. Luis Liria picked up his second win of the season, retiring the first 10 men in order, allowing just two hits and striking out six for his second win. Hawks pitchers combined to strike out a season-high 13 men. Lopez went 3-for-3 with three RBI and three runs scored, with Klafczynski going 3-for-4 with four RBI in the win. Kerry Jenkins had three of the Bears six hits in the loss. Game 2 of the series is tomorrow night at 8:05 p.m. (MT) with Ben Wells going for the Hawks opposite Brad Wilson.
