Hawks Drop First Playoff Game in 5-0 Loss to Prince George
April 27, 2024 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Portland Winterhawks News Release
Jan Špunar turned aside 30 of 35 shots for Portland, but the Winterhawks couldn't find twine as the Prince George Cougars took a 5-0 victory in Game 1 of their Western Conference Championship Series. Josh Ravensbergen posted a 33-save shutout for the Cougars.
The Cougars grabbed an early lead through Terik Parascak just 1:43 into the contest, and Ravensbergen held strong despite a solid Portland push through the opening 20. More Prince George pressure netted the hosts three more goals in the middle frame as Bauer Dumanski, Hudson Thornton and Ondrej Becher extended the lead in a 10-minute span. A fortunate bounce in the third led to a Koehn Ziemmer power-play goal to wrap up the contest.
Game 2 is set for tomorrow night at 6:00 P.M. at the CN Centre.
