Hawks Bounce Back Again

For the third consecutive game, the Waterloo Black Hawks fell behind, but they recovered to win for the second time in that span, topping the Tri-City Storm 3-1 at Young Arena Friday.

Tri-City frustrated the Hawks in the first period, carrying a 1-0 lead to the locker room in spite of being outshot 12-6. Perhaps the best chance for the Hawks to dent the net was at 9:18 when Christian Frey denied Taylor Cammarata's penalty shot. The Storm pulled in front at 17:01 when all three forwards touched the puck on a three-on-two rush, capped by Tim Lappin's redirection over the left shoulder of Stephon Williams.

Following a scoreless second period, the Black Hawks offense arrived in the third. Mark Naclerio fed a pass from behind the net to Scott MacDonald who rattled a shot into the net at 3:46. Jamie Hill scored the winner at 10:11, flipping in a second chance from Eddie Wittchow's point shot. Waterloo nailed down the comeback, scoring an insurance goal with 3:12 remaining; Tony Cameranesi ended a two-on-rush with a shot to the short side after catching Naclerio's pass.

Williams earned the win with 14 saves as the Hawks outshot the Storm 35-15. It was the Alaska native's tenth win since being traded to Waterloo. Jay Williams and Eamon McAdam also have at least ten wins this season, make this the first time in Black Hawks history that three different goaltenders have earned double-digit wins in the same season.
