Havoc Takes Two

HUNTSVILLE, AL - The Huntsville Havoc went 2-1 over a three-game weekend winning on the road in Columbus 4-3 before falling at home to Richmond 7-5 and shutting out Fayetteville at home 5-0.

Thursday, February 19 (at Columbus) - B.J. Radovich scored a powerplay goal 7:52 left in the game and the Huntsville Havoc held on for a 4-3 win over the Columbus Cottonmouths Thursday night.

Edan Welch scored on an unassisted goal just 4:55 into the game. Tim Green would give the Cottonmouths a 2-1 lead heading into the first intermission with back-to-back goals.

Jeff Genovy scored two goals in the second period, one with 6:39 left and one with 1:36 left in the period to give Huntsville a 3-2 lead heading into the final period.

Ryan McCarthy scored just 1:58 into the third to tie the score at 3-3.

Tim Haun made 36 saves in the win while Ian Vigier made 33 in the loss. The Havoc finished one-of-three on the powerplay while holding Columbus to one-of-seven.

Friday, February 20 (vs Richmond) - The Huntsville Havoc held a 5-3 lead heading into the third period but a goal :37 into the period and two powerplay goals were too much as the Richmond Renegades rallied for a 7-5 win.

Billy Tibbetts scored three goals and recorded one assist in his home debut for the Havoc. Karlis Zirnis and Billy McCreary also added goals for Huntsville.

Geoff Rollins scored two goals for Richmond while Bill Zalba, Justin Joy, Dan Vandermeer, Trevor Karasiewicz and Ryan Busby all had one each.

Mike Ronan came on in relief of Ryan Scott and made 23 saves in the win. Tim Haun allowed six goals and made 22 saves in the loss.

Saturday, February 21 (vs Fayetteville) - Ross Cherry recorded 29 saves to record his first career shutout as the Huntsville Havoc blanked the Fayetteville FireAntz 5-0 Saturday night.

Billy Tibbetts scored his fourth and fifth goals in two nights for the Havoc. He also recorded one assist. John Ronan, Edan Welch and Travis Kauffeldt also scored for Huntsville.

Paul Falco had two assists while Ronan, Kauffeldt, Karlis Zirnis, Ray Ortiz and Bill McCreary all had one each.

Kyle Knechtel made 24 saves in the loss. The Havoc converted on two powerplays out of four chances and held Fayetteville scoreless on six chances.
