
Havoc Streak Reaches Six

HUNTSVILLE, AL - The Huntsville Havoc dropped three games over the weekend moving their winless streak to a season-high six games.
Thursday, January 8 (vs Knoxville) - Brett Smith scored with 2:44 left in the game to tie the score a 1-1 and Kevin Swider scored just :22 into the overtime period giving the Knoxville Ice Bears a 2-1 win over the Huntsville Havoc Thursday night.
B.J. Radovich had given the Havoc a 1-0 lead just :35 into the third period before Knoxville rallied.
The Havoc outshot the Ice Bears 43-28 but Andrew Gallant made 42 saves to get the win. Mike Ronan made 26 in the loss.
Friday, January 9 (at Knoxville) - The Knoxville Ice Bears jumped out to a 3-0 lead and held on for a 5-3 win over the Huntsville Havoc Friday night.
First period goals by Kevin Harris, Shaun Norrie and Bobby Joe Pelky gave the Ice Bears the 3-0 lead.
B.J. Radovich cut the lead to 3-1 early in the second before Tim Vitek scored two minutes later on the powerplay and pushed the lead to three goals again.
Jeff Genovy made it 4-2 with less than a minute left in the second on his first goal in a Havoc uniform.
John Ronan added a powerplay goal with 4:18 left in the game to cut the lead to 4-3. Tim Vitek added an empty net goal with :11 left to seal the win.
The Havoc once again outshot the Ice Bears 41-29 and 15-3 in the third period. Kirk Irving made 38 saves in the win. Ross Cherry started for the Havoc and allowed three goals and made 12 saves. Michael Ronan played the final two periods and allowed one goal and made 12 saves. He took the loss.
Saturday, January 10 (vs Fayetteville) - Dan Buccella scored a powerplay goal with 15:49 left in the third period breaking a 1-1 and giving the Fayetteville Fire Antz a 2-1 win over the Huntsville Havoc Saturday night in front of 5,237 fans.
Stephen Cooke scored a powerplay goal just 2:42 into the game to give the Havoc a 1-0 lead. Rob Sich tied the game three minutes later with a powerplay goal of his own.
Mike Ronan made 26 saves in the loss, while Kyle Knetchel made 29 in the win.

Havoc players will wear special jerseys that will be auctioned off immediately after the game. All auction proceeds benefit the Melissa George Neonatal Memorial Fund & Huntsville Hospital Foundation. Players will also use special pink sticks during warm-ups that will be part of a silent auction throughout the first two periods. The first 1,000 fans who bring in a NEW item for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Huntsville Hospital for Women & Children receive a FREE bobblehead of Huntsville hockey legend Chris George. Appropriate donated items include blankets and clothing for pre-mature infants - cash donations will also be accepted.
