HUNTSVILLE, AL - The Huntsville Havoc continue to struggle putting wins together as the team split a pair of home games and dropped a road decision this past weekend.

Thursday, December 13 - Mississippi RiverKings 4, Huntsville 3

HUNTSVILLE, AL - The Huntsville Havoc tried their best to erase a two-goal deficit, but Mississippi RiverKings would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 4-3.

Mississippi RiverKings made the score 4-2 on a goal by Darrell Stoddard at 11:55 in the second period, and Huntsville got as close as 4-3 when Kyle Laughlin scored 8:03 into the third period.

Mississippi RiverKings was led by Stoddard, who tallied one goal.

Mississippi RiverKings put 36 shots on net during the contest, more than the 29.5 it averages per game.

Mississippi RiverKings additionally got points from Jeremy Dawes, who also registered one goal and one assist and Matt Whitehead, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Paul Kurceba also scored for Mississippi RiverKings. In addition, Mississippi RiverKings received assists from Andrew Randazzo, who had two and Steven Kaunisto, Kevin Willer, Todd Hosmer, and Patrick Gaul, who each chipped in one.

The Havoc forced Mississippi RiverKings goalie Matthew Krahn to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots.

Huntsville was led by Justin Fox, who had one goal and one assist. Fox scored 5:36 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Bryant Doerrsam assisted on the tally. Huntsville also got a goal from Stuart Stefan as well. Other players who recorded assists for Huntsville were Ian Boots, Colin Reddin, and Kevin Brojek, who contributed one a piece.

Krahn recorded 33 saves for Mississippi RiverKings. Mississippi RiverKings totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play. Dan McWhinney made 32 saves for the Havoc on 36 shots. Huntsville totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play.

Friday, December 14 - Augusta 2, Huntsville 3

HUNTSVILLE, AL - Huntsville made the score 3-1 on a goal by Leland Fidler at 17:52 in the second period, and Augusta got as close as 3-2 when Shawn Skelly scored 18:55 into the third period.

The Havoc were led by Fidler, who tallied one goal.

Huntsville racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with five minors and two majors for 30 minutes in penalty time. The Havoc had been averaging 22.0 minutes in penalties per game. Huntsville excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. By firing 32 shots on goal, the Havoc exceeded the 20.8 shots they average per game this year.

Huntsville also got a goal from Justin Fox as well. More assists for Huntsville came via Stuart Stefan, who had one and Colin Reddin, who had two.

The RiverHawks were often in penalty trouble, totaling seven minors and two majors for 24 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 19.0 minutes per game Augusta had been spending in the box. Huntsville was unable to stop the RiverHawks from sending pucks towards the net, and Augusta eventually piled up 31 shots on goal.

The RiverHawks were helped by Chad Ziegler, who racked up one goal. Ziegler scored 12:20 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Augusta. Dennis Sicard picked up the assist. In addition, Augusta received assists from Jason Price, Pat Schafer, and William Lacasse, who each chipped in one.

Dan McWhinney rejected 29 shots on goal for the Havoc. Huntsville registered one goal on six power play opportunities. The Havoc ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Matt Smyth was ejected from the game. BJ OBrien made 29 saves for Augusta on 32 shots.

Sunday, December 16 - Huntsville 1, Columbus 5

COLUMBUS, GA - John Sullivan had two goals and one assist to lead the Columbus Cottonmouths to a 5-1 victory over the Huntsville Havoc.

Sullivan found the back of the net 6:43 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Columbus and again while on the power play 13:00 into the first to make the score 2-0 Columbus.

Columbus was led by goalie Andrew Loewen, who finished with 33 saves while allowing one goal. Loewen certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.25 entering the contest.

The Cottonmouths' penalty kill excelled, as Columbus gave up one goal despite allowing nine power plays.

The Cottonmouths racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with nine minors and three majors for 33 minutes in penalty time. Columbus surpassed its season average of 20.0 penalty minutes per game. The Cottonmouths outdid their season average for goals scored. Columbus averages 2.5 goals per game. The Cottonmouths relied on a core group of players for most of their offense, as Jordan Braid, Sullivan and Sam Bowles took 18 of the team's 31 shots.

Columbus additionally got points from Matt Gingera, who also had one goal and one assist. In addition, Columbus received assists from Bret Tyler, who had three and Tom Fitzpatrick and Chris Bailer, who contributed one a piece.

Huntsville forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up five minors and three majors for 25 minutes in penalty time. The Havoc had been averaging 22.0 minutes in penalties per game. Huntsville's defensemen bolstered the Havoc's offensive attack, as they bombarded Loewen with 14 shots. Huntsville forced Columbus goalie Loewen to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots.

The Havoc were led by Bill Baker, who took three shots.

The Cottonmouths registered one goal on five power play opportunities. Dan McWhinney rejected 26 shots on goal for Huntsville.
