
Havoc Snap Skid With Win In Columbus

HUNTSVILLE, AL - The Huntsville Havoc snapped a three-game losing streak with a 4-2 win over the Columbus Cottonmouths on Saturday night in Columbus. The Havoc now sit in fourth place in the SPHL standings, just two points out of second and seven points behind first-place Peoria.

COLUMBUS, GA - The Huntsville Havoc and the Columbus Cottonmouths were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Huntsville made the most of its opportunities and won, 4-2.
No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by John McGinnis at 15:31 of the third period.
The Havoc got the win thanks to a great game by McGinnis, who had two goals and one assist. McGinnis scored the first of his two goals at 9:20 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Stuart Stefan picked up the assist. McGinnis' next tally made the score 3-2 Huntsville with 4:29 left in the third period. Huntsville had taken the advantage when Columbus' Andy Bathgate got sent off for cross checking. Steve Mele assisted on the tally.
The Havoc's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Columbus power plays. Huntsville put 49 shots on net during the contest, more than the 26.5 it averages per game.
Huntsville additionally got points from Stefan, who also tallied one goal and two assists. Huntsville also got a goal from Scott Henegar as well. In addition, Huntsville received assists from Zach Josepher and Jackson Brewer, who each chipped in one.
The Cottonmouths were helped by Al Graves, who registered one goal. Graves scored 2:03 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Columbus. Patrick McCadden picked up the assist. Ben OQuinn also scored for Columbus. More assists for Columbus came via Shawn Bates, who had one.
Kevin Genoe made 24 saves for the Havoc on 26 shots. Huntsville totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 2-for-6 on the power play. Columbus' Shannon Szabados stopped 45 shots out of the 48 that he faced. The Cottonmouths ended with 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major.
