Huntsville Havoc News Release
HUNTSVILLE, AL - Huntsville Havoc head coach Glenn Detulleo announced today that the team has signed forward Justin Brausen from the free agent camp the team hosted this past weekend in Ames, Iowa.
"After another successful camp in Ames, IA co-hosted by the Iowa State University Hockey Team, we are pleased to invite Justin to our main camp," Detulleo said. "Over the course of the practices and 2 exhibition games, Justin separated himself from the other players. He showed a great mix of skill and physicality that we feel has the potential to translate at the pro level. We are excited to see him in Huntsville competing for an opening day roster spot."
Brausen (6-1, 200) last played during the 2010-11 season with St. John's University in NCAA Division III. He played in 11 games and scored two goals and added two assists.
"I am beyond excited to have opportunity to make the Huntsville Havoc hockey team," Brausen said. "I know it is going to be a lot of work but I am excited for the challenge, and I will bring a good competitive effort to camp and hopefully be able to land a roster spot."
"I came to camp with a nervous excitement because it was my first pro tryout and I didn't really know what to expect," Brausen said. "Through the practices and the two games, I gained a great deal of respect for the level of play. The practices had good pace and the games were competitive, exactly what was needed to showcase our skills and our work ethic. The camp was run very well and the communication from the coaches to the players was exceptional."
The Havoc will begin their 10th season of play at Fayetteville on October 25. The home opener is set for November 8 against new member Peoria.
