HUNTSVILLE, AL - The Huntsville Havoc managed one point in week 12 after dropping a 6-3 decision to the Mississippi RiverKings on Friday before falling 1-0 in overtime to the Louisiana Ice Gators on Saturday.

Friday, January 11 - Mississippi RiverKings 6, Huntsville 3

HUNTSVILLE, AL - Patrick Gaul lifted Mississippi RiverKings to a 6-3 victory with a hat trick against the Huntsville Havoc.

Gaul's first goal came 3:53 into the second period. He then added goals at 10:30 into the second and at 11:20 into the third.

Huntsville's power play was ineffective against Mississippi RiverKings' penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

Mississippi RiverKings' goal total was higher than its season average. This season, Mississippi RiverKings averages 2.9 goals per contest. Mississippi RiverKings took advantage of the Havoc's penalties, tallying two goals off of three power play opportunities. Mississippi RiverKings relied on a core group of players for most of its offense, as Gaul, Todd Hosmer and Andrew Randazzo took 15 of the team's 28 shots. Mississippi RiverKings got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

Mississippi RiverKings also got points from Steven Kaunisto, who also finished with one goal and two assists, Randazzo, who also racked up one goal and two assists, and Paul Lee, who also had one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Mississippi RiverKings were Ian Finnerty, Matt Harrington, Tyler Sheldrake, and David Wilson, who contributed one a piece.

With 36 shots on target during the contest, Huntsville exceeded the 16.7 shots it averages per game this year.

The Havoc were helped by Tyler Noseworthy, who registered one goal. Noseworthy scored 4:19 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Mississippi RiverKings. Stuart Stefan provided the assist. Huntsville additionally got points from Aaron McGill, who also registered one goal and one assist. Kyle Laughlin also scored for Huntsville. More assists for Huntsville came via Brett Liscomb and Ian Boots, who each chipped in one.

Mississippi RiverKings' Wilson stopped 33 shots out of the 36 that he faced. Mississippi RiverKings incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Dan McWhinney made 22 saves for Huntsville on 28 shots. The Havoc incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.

Saturday, January 12 - Louisiana 1, Huntsville 0 - OT

HUNTSVILLE, AL - The Louisiana IceGators' Jeremey Boyer scored 2:30 into overtime to beat the Huntsville Havoc, 1-0 (OT).

Louisiana was boosted by Riley Gill, who turned in a shutout with 41 saves. Gill certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.31 entering the contest.

The IceGators forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up eight minors and two majors for 56 minutes in penalty time. Louisiana surpassed its season average of 20.0 penalty minutes per game. The IceGators' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Huntsville power plays. Louisiana could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The IceGators put an average of 3.3 pucks into the net per game. Louisiana's defensive effort looked to be improved. The IceGators allow 2.7 goals per game. The 27 shots that Louisiana put on net surpassed the IceGators' average of 20.7 shots per game this season.

In addition, Louisiana received assists from Kirk Byczynski, who had one.

Huntsville racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with seven minors and two majors for 54 minutes in penalty time. The Havoc had been averaging 24.0 minutes in penalties per game. Huntsville excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The Havoc's offense operated below their season average. Huntsville averages 2.3 goals per game. The Havoc's offense rang up 41 shots on Louisiana's net.

Huntsville was led by Ian Boots, who took seven shots. Dan McWhinney recorded 26 saves for the Havoc.
