Bloomington Thunder News Release
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - The Bloomington Thunder settled down after giving up two early goals but could not overcome the deficit and fell 4-2 on Friday to the Huntsville Havoc at Von Braun Center.
The Havoc scored twice in the first two minutes beginning with a back door feed to the left circle converted by Justin Cseter on a power play just 1:27 in, followed by a bouncing puck in the crease batted in by Ray Ortiz just 31 seconds later.
The Thunder used a four-minute power play to score with 8:47 left in the second period on a slap from the slot by Mike Henderson in his Thunder debut on assists from Nic Polaski and Travis Granbois to cut the margin to 2-1 at the second intermission.
Huntsville pushed their advantage back to two goals with Eric Alexander's second rebound of his own shot with 11:04 left in regulation for a 3-1 lead. Henderson recorded his second goal of the game on a power play with an extra attacker with 1:00 left, but Nick Lazorko won a race to score an empty net goal with 13.3 seconds remaining to set the final score.
Kevin Genoe earned the win by turning aside 26 Thunder shots while B.J. O'Brien picked up the loss despite 35 saves. The Thunder were 2-of-4 on power play chances and killed five of six Havoc opportunities.
