FAYETTEVILLE, NC - Mike Gurtler had two goals to lead the Huntsville Havoc to a 7-0 victory over the Fayetteville FireAntz.

Gurtler scored at 6:12 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Huntsville and again while 14:14 into the first to make the score 2-0 Huntsville.

Huntsville made FireAntz's goalies to work all game long, firing 32 shots and forcing 25 saves. Dan Dunn made 17 stops and Kyle Rank made eight. The Havoc's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Fayetteville power plays. Huntsville's offense was helped by the efforts of its defensemen, who managed to put 15 shots on net during the game.

Huntsville also got points from Rob Florentino, who also had one goal and one assist, Dominic Osman, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Justin Fox, who also finished with one goal and two assists to lead the team in points, and Josh Harris, who also registered one goal and one assist. Huntsville also got a goal from Stuart Stefan as well. More assists for Huntsville came via Matt Singleton, who had two and Derek Foam, Leland Fidler, Justin Cseter, and Scott Harff, who contributed one a piece.

Fayetteville struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 28 penalty minutes for nine opposing power plays. The FireAntz relied on a core group of players for most of their offense, as Zach Carriveau, John Clewlow and Aaron McGill took 10 of the team's 18 shots.

The Havoc's Kevin Genoe stopped 18 shots out of the 18 that he faced to record a shutout in his first professional game. Huntsville incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
