PENSACOLA, FL - The Pensacola Ice Flyers defeated their rivals the Mississippi Surge 5-1. The line of Joe Caveney, Paul Rodrigues, and Mitchell Good continued their hot play from the night before by combining for three goals and seven assists in the victory.
The Ice Flyers came out in the first period and absolutely pelted Surge goalie Mathieu Dugas. Pensacola put up 19 shots on goal in the first period but despite the high number of shots, it only resulted in one goal. Joe Caveney broke the scoreless tie 13:01 into the game with Mitchell Good and Paul Rodrigues picking up the assists.
The Ice Flyers came out on fire and picked up two more goals early in the second period. With Mississippi's Justin MacDonald in the box for tripping, Drew Baker netted his second goal in as many nights on the power play just 1:07 into the second. Rodrigues and Good were both credited with their second assists of the game. Less than a minute later, Mark Thorburn made it 3-0 in favor of the Ice Flyers with assists from Podge Turnbull and Steve Bergin.
The third period started with two strikes as well. This time it began with a Surge goal as Chapen LeBlond scored eight seconds into the period to cut the Ice Flyers' lead down to 3-1. Undaunted, Joe Caveney picked up his second goal of the night just 26 second later to push the lead to 4-1. Paul Rodrigues notched his third assist on the game with the lone helper on Caveney's goal.

About five minutes later, Mitchell Good made it 5-1 when he scored with 8:46 remaining in the third. Rodrigues and Caveney got the assists.
Peter Di Salvo got the win in his first start of the year by making 35 saves on 36 shots. Paul Rodrigues was named the second star while Podge Turnbull was named the first.
