Havoc Acquire Sich In Trade

Huntsville Havoc News Release

HUNTSVILLE, AL - Huntsville Havoc head coach Randy Murphy announced today that the team has reached a trade agreement with Fayetteville to acquire forward Rob Sich in exchange for forward Mike Carter.

"Obviously Rob is as gifted as they come at our level," Murphy said. "What we are lacking right now, he has the potential to provide in scoring. We are looking for Rob to buy into our systems and contribute at both ends of ice. Anytime you can acquire a league MVP it should help your team. We are excited to have Rob on board."

Sich has played in 38 games this season for Fayetteville and scored 26 goals and added 22 assists. The LaSalle, Ontario native won SPHL MVP honors last season when he scored 63 goals and recorded 35 assists. He has played in 313 career games, 294 in the SPHL, and scored 313 goals and recorded 201 assists.

"I'm extremely excited about this opportunity," Sich said. "Like I told Coach Murphy, I'm ready to come in and make a positive impact on this team. If I had to choose anywhere else in the league to go it would be Huntsville. They have a great group of guys, a great organization and terrific fans. This is a great chance for me to start fresh with new teammates and help this team win back-to-back championships."

Not only is Sich one of the best offensive players in the SPHL, he is also the one player that fans of the opposing team love to hate when they battle the FireAntz.

"I'm a very intense player," Sich said. "I try to leave it all on the ice each night, but what happens on the ice, stays on the ice. I don't think any of the grudges will carry over and off the ice we are all professionals. I don't think there will be any problems with us coming together as team."

Carter had scored 11 goals and recorded 24 assists for the Havoc this season. He scored 18 goals and recorded 28 assists last year for the Havoc after spending the previous two seasons with Knoxville. He has won three consecutive SPHL President's Cup Championships.

"Mike is not an easy player to move," Murphy said. "When you coach a person of Mike's quality it makes the business side very hard to see. I feel he will benefit from this move as will Fayetteville in terms of the quality player /person they are receiving."

The Havoc will host the first place Mississippi Surge on Friday and the FireAntz on Saturday.
